Shrine burnt after fetish priest allegedly kills girlfriend for rituals in Central Region

A wave of shock and anger has swept through the quiet community of Awutu Bentum, near Bontrase in the Central Region, following the gruesome alleged murder of a young woman by a local fetish priest for ritual purposes.

According to eyewitness accounts and police sources, the suspect, a fetish priest whose shrine was located in the community, is accused of killing his girlfriend and dismembering her body. It is alleged that the priest removed parts of her body, claiming they were required for sacrifices to his gods.

The community was thrown into a state of pandemonium upon the discovery of the remains. Overcome with rage and horror, a group of residents stormed the suspect’s shrine and set it ablaze, reducing it to ashes.

The incident has left residents deeply traumatized, with many struggling to comprehend the brutality of the alleged crime. “We have never seen anything like this here. It is a sad day for our community,” one elder told reporters on condition of anonymity.

Law enforcement agencies have been notified and are expected to launch a full-scale investigation into the matter. The community is now calling for swift justice to be served. As of the time of filing this report, the suspect was in hiding, and police are conducting a manhunt for his arrest.

Residents are urged to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities as they work to unravel the circumstances surrounding this heinous act.
