The Santiago Bernabéu played host to an unexpected transfer drama this week, as Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer attended a Real Madrid event—only to find himself at the center of a very public courtship of his star player.

Hainer was a special guest at the graduation ceremony of the Real Madrid Graduate School–Universidad Europea, held at the Bernabéu at the invitation of Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez. The visit was meant to underscore the strong institutional relationship between the two European giants. But the evening took a decidedly different turn when a fan, or according to some reports a student receiving their diploma, called out to Pérez urging him to sign Bayern’s French winger Michael Olise.

Pérez did not miss a beat. Turning to Hainer, the Real Madrid president was overheard saying: “In the end, you will have to sell Olise to me.”

Whether the remark was delivered in jest or carried a more pointed message remains a matter of interpretation. But it laid bare what has become an open secret in European football: Real Madrid’s long-standing admiration for the 24-year-old World Cup sensation.

Hainer, for his part, has been unequivocal in his response. The Bayern president has publicly insisted that Olise is not for sale—not even for €150 million or more.

“If Florentino Pérez wants to send us a bid for Olise, which has not happened so far, he can save himself the trouble,” Hainer told Bild. “He is a player of FC Bayern with a long-term contract. And we are not a selling club.”

Privately, however, there is growing recognition in Munich that the situation could shift dramatically once the World Cup concludes. Olise has reportedly planned a meeting with Bayern executives to discuss his future, and the French international has been encouraged by what he has heard regarding a potential move to the Spanish capital.

For now, Bayern remain firm. But with Pérez having made his intentions clear—and with a fan’s spontaneous plea now echoed by the Real Madrid president himself—the Olise saga appears far from over.
