Archibald Gamor Korletey, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Organiser aspirant, has dismissed opinion polls ahead of the party’s national executive elections, insisting that they cannot determine the outcome of the October 3 contest.

Mr Korletey, who is seeking the National Organiser position, said delegates could change their preferences before voting day.

“The polls do not determine who becomes a winner. The elections are won on the D-Day,” he said on Eyewitness News on Friday, September 25, 2026.

He argued that internal party elections were different from general elections, noting that a delegate could indicate support for one candidate in a poll but vote for another when the actual election is held.

“So, when you call me as a chairman, I can tell you I’m voting for A. However, my mind will change on the D-Day to vote for B,” he said.

Mr Korletey said he was therefore not concerned about polls that did not place him among the leading candidates in the National Organiser race.

“I even like it that they don’t even talk about it, because they won’t know what you are doing,” he said.

His comments follow polls released by organisations including Global InfoAnalytics ahead of the NPP’s national executive elections.

He said the structure of the NPP’s internal elections made such polls less predictive because the decision would ultimately be made by delegates gathered for the election.

“The day of the elections, because we are grouping at one location. If it is the issue of doing it in the regions, that is a different thing altogether. But once we are on the ground, the decision is taken there,” he said.

The NPP is scheduled to hold its national executive elections on October 3, 2026. The National Organiser role is central to the party’s grassroots mobilisation and organisational work.

Mr Korletey’s remarks highlight the uncertainty that often surrounds internal party contests, where delegate preferences can shift in the final days before voting.
