“He made everything easier”: Messi credits Ronaldinho for transforming his early days at Barcelona in Netflix documentary

In a heartfelt revelation for an upcoming Netflix feature, Lionel Messi has opened up about the profound impact Ronaldinho had on his career, describing the Brazilian icon as the single most influential figure in the Barcelona locker room during his formative years.

“Ronaldinho made the biggest difference in the locker room,” Messi said in the documentary. “The way he approached me and how he treated me from the very first day made everything so much easier.”

Messi, who arrived at Barça’s first team as a shy teenager, explained that Ronaldinho’s warmth went beyond mentorship. The veteran forward’s inclusive attitude, he said, allowed him to relax and find joy in his surroundings at a critical moment.

“He made me feel at ease and enjoy playing and being there in the locker room at that moment,” Messi added.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner concluded his tribute with a note of enduring gratitude. “I’m always grateful to him for everything, and I hold a special affection for him.”

The documentary, which chronicles key moments in Messi’s legendary career, is expected to premiere globally on Netflix later this year.
