Floyd Mayweather has finally broken his silence. In a candid interview with Cam’Ron on the It Is What It Is podcast, the undefeated boxing icon forcefully pushed back against months of swirling rumors about his financial health.
Recorded at his Las Vegas gym on March 6, 2026, and released this week, the 50-year-old former five-division champion addressed the speculation head-on. When Cam’Ron asked directly whether his recent exhibition bouts were driven by money troubles or simply a continuation of his career, Mayweather did not hesitate.
“Nobody has taken none of my properties away from me,” Mayweather declared. “I still got all my houses, I still got everything”.
He emphasized that his obligations to those closest to him remain fully met. “My mother, my whole family, their bills are still paid. Still pay all my employees,” he said.
The 50-0 legend also reflected on the fan base that has supported him throughout his career, particularly the Black community. “The Black community have been paying money for years to come see me fight,” Mayweather said. “You bet it on Floyd ’cause I prove that I’m 100% when I get in that ring”.
However, he suggested that same success invites resentment. “After they go home, and they got everything they won, they’re praying on my downfall. ‘We don’t want to see Floyd win nothing'”.
Addressing the lawsuits and controversies that have dominated recent headlines, Mayweather framed them as an inevitable cost of his celebrity status. “It’s this lawsuit, it’s that lawsuit… I get myself out of the situation. It’s not me. I’m the biggest name. Who they gon’ point the finger at?”.
He also revealed that he deliberately avoids engaging with online chatter. “I ain’t got social media on my phone,” Mayweather said. “I’m too focused on building generational wealth”.
But his confident statements come against a backdrop of serious legal and financial challenges.
💰 The Numbers Behind the Headlines
The Legal Troubles:
· Felony charges filed in Las Vegas over an alleged $200,000 bad check written for a luxury Audemars Piguet watch in December 2024
· A $7.3 million federal tax lien from the IRS for unpaid back taxes
· A $340 million lawsuit against Showtime Networks over alleged diverted pay-per-view revenue
· A separate lawsuit alleging he was scammed out of $175 million by a former business partner
· Plaintiffs in at least four states claiming Mayweather owes them money
The Net Worth Question:
While Mayweather earned over 50 million to $400 million—largely due to ongoing legal and financial entanglements.
For his part, Mayweather remains defiant. He dismissed media reports questioning his wealth as attempts to discredit him, insisting his day-to-day life remains unaffected.
“If you look, man, you just look around my team; they are still paying their bills,” he said. “All my properties are paid for. My grandson doesn’t want for anything… At the end of the day, I’m good”.
Whether Mayweather’s empire remains as solid as he claims—or whether the legal battles signal deeper cracks beneath the surface—only time will tell. For now, “Money” Mayweather is sticking to his story.
