The Electricity Company of Ghana will undertake planned and emergency maintenance exercises across the Ashanti, Central, and Greater Accra regions on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, resulting in temporary power outages in several communities.

According to the power distributor, the exercises are part of ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and strengthen the stability of the national grid. Outages will commence at varying times across affected areas, with most beginning at 9:00 am, though duration will differ depending on the scope of works at each location.

Ashanti Region

In the Ashanti Region, two separate maintenance exercises have been scheduled. A planned operation will run from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Mamponteng, Aboaso, Ntonsso, Dumanafo, Ankaase, Asonomaso Nkwanta, Safo, Kona, and surrounding areas.

A second, emergency maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, impacting Christian Service University, Atonsu S-Line, Afanko, Dompoase, Santasi Roundabout, TUC, parts of Dakodwom, and surrounding areas.

Central Region

In the Central Region, a planned maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Afrangua, Mpeseduadze, Obokor, Jedu, Abandze, Egyaa Nos. 1, 2, and 3, Briwa, Asafora, Barrier, parts of Anomabo, and surrounding areas.

Greater Accra Region

The Accra East Region will experience a planned exercise from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Islamic University, parts of Adjiringanor, Striker, Oasis, parts of Okpoigonno, and surrounding areas.

Ongoing restoration efforts

The scheduled interventions come as ECG continues to manage the aftermath of Sunday’s heavy rainstorm, which affected 57 feeders in Accra and Tema. As of Sunday evening, 38 had been restored while 19 remained outstanding, with restoration efforts ongoing.

Additionally, engineers continue to address a cable fault at Amasaman in the Accra West Region, which has disrupted power to Amasaman, Fise, Urban Roads, the Hospital, Municipal Assembly, Lakisha Hotel, Slaughter House, China Mall, and surrounding areas.

ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by both the scheduled maintenance and the ongoing restoration efforts. The company urged customers experiencing outages to report through its Contact Centre, the ECG PowerApp, or its official social media handles, while assuring the public that engineers are working diligently to fully restore power across the regions.
