In a significant boost to local infrastructure, the newly constructed Kumawu Community Centre has been officially commissioned, marking a pivotal moment for social and administrative progress in the Sekyere Kumawu District.

The ceremony, held on Tuesday, brought together a distinguished cross-section of the community, including the Paramount Chief of the Kumawu Traditional Area, Barimah Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua; the Member of Parliament for Kumawu, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim; and the District Chief Executive (DCE), Kwasi Amankwa. They were joined by assembly members, opinion leaders, youth groups, and enthusiastic residents who gathered to witness what many hailed as a transformative milestone for the area.

A Symbol of Collaborative Governance

In his keynote address, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim extended his heartfelt gratitude to the District Assembly, the DCE, and the Kumawumanhene for their steadfast collaboration in seeing the project to completion. Adopting a non-partisan stance on development, the MP acknowledged the foundational work of the previous administration, emphasizing that “development is a continuous process that requires the collective contributions of successive governments.”

Hon. Anim described the facility as a vital asset for the community, set to host public meetings, social events, and crucial development-oriented engagements. He issued a passionate plea to the residents and local authorities to diligently maintain the centre, ensuring its longevity and service to future generations.

“The completion of this project is proof that when we work together, we deliver results for our people,” Hon. Anim stated. He reaffirmed his dedication to partnering with the DCE and the assembly to fast-track development, stressing that unity between political leadership, traditional authorities, and the citizenry is the cornerstone of progress.

A Hub for Civic Life

The District Chief Executive, Kwasi Amankwa, echoed the MP’s sentiments, reiterating the assembly’s unwavering commitment to initiatives that enhance the welfare of residents. He highlighted the centre’s role in strengthening local governance by providing a suitable and dignified space for official engagements and community programmes.

“The welfare of our people is our priority. This centre is not just a building; it is a platform for social interaction, effective governance, and community cohesion,” the DCE remarked.

Royal Endorsement and Call to Unity

Adding his royal blessing to the occasion, the Kumawumanhene, Barimah Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua, commended the government and the district assembly for their dedication. He described the facility as a significant addition to the traditional area that will immensely benefit the people.

The revered traditional leader called on all stakeholders to act as custodians of the new facility. “Let us handle this centre with the utmost care. It is an investment in our future, and we must preserve its value for generations yet unborn,” he advised.

His Royal Highness also urged the MP and DCE to maintain their spirit of unity and harmony, encouraging them to continue working closely to champion the overall progress of the district.

The newly commissioned Kumawu Community Centre is poised to become a vibrant hub for civic participation, public administration, and community life, symbolizing a shared commitment to growth and development in Kumawu and its surrounding areas.
