A violent confrontation between rival chiefs yesterday sent shockwaves through the Kpandai community, resulting in the destruction of three motorbikes and prompting a swift security response.

The clash, which erupted on the afternoon of February 7, stemmed from long-standing disagreements believed to be related to land and traditional authority. Eyewitnesses report that heated exchanges between the factions escalated rapidly into physical violence, drawing in supporters and causing widespread alarm.

During the chaos, three motorbikes were set ablaze, further heightening tensions. Local residents were forced to flee the immediate area to avoid harm, disrupting daily life and business activities.

“No lives were lost, but the destruction of property and the atmosphere of fear is very distressing for our community,” stated one resident, who asked to remain anonymous. “We need our leaders to settle their differences peacefully.”

Security personnel were promptly deployed to the scene, successfully containing the situation and preventing further escalation. Authorities have confirmed they are monitoring the area closely and have called for maximum restraint from all parties.

“The Police are on the ground to ensure the safety of all persons and properties,” said a local security official. “We are urging the parties involved to resort to dialogue and the established mechanisms for conflict resolution.”

The incident has cast a spotlight on the recurring challenge of chieftaincy and land disputes in the region. Local government officials and traditional elders are now pushing for urgent mediation between the rival chiefs to address the root causes of the conflict and prevent a recurrence.

Community leaders are appealing for calm and cooperation with security forces to restore and maintain social harmony. Affected individuals are also seeking assistance to recover the losses incurred from the burnt motorbikes.

This clash underscores the critical need for proactive dialogue and adherence to traditional and legal dispute-resolution processes to safeguard community stability in Kpandai.
