Tanzanian music power couple Zuchu ans Diamond Platnumz split after six years, one year of marriage

Tanzanian singer Zuchu has announced the end of her six-year relationship and one-year marriage to fellow music superstar Diamond Platnumz, confirming the couple are now separated and undergoing divorce proceedings.

The 33-year-old singer, born Zuhura Othman Soud, broke the news on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, July 12. She did not disclose the reason for the split but said she had made the difficult decision to prioritize her wellbeing.

“I Have Finally Decided to Choose Myself”

“My former partner and I are now separated and going through a divorce. I announce this with a heavy heart,” Zuchu wrote. “After six years of being together, I have finally decided to choose myself. I wish Naseeb Abdul [Diamond Platnumz] and his family all the best.”

She added: “For me, this is a time to heal and focus more on my health and my work. Our chapter has come to an end, Alhamdulillah. We tried, but Allah has His own plans.”

A Rollercoaster Love Story

Zuchu joined Diamond’s WCB Wasafi record label in 2020, and the pair’s professional chemistry soon blossomed into romance. Their relationship, confirmed in 2021, was marked by public breakups and reconciliations.

In November 2024, Zuchu announced they had mutually parted ways after three years of dating. However, they later rekindled their romance.

The couple secretly married in a private Islamic ceremony in June 2025. Diamond later revealed he had married Zuchu without even informing his mother. “It just happened. It wasn’t planned,” he said in a later interview. “I took my wife, we went to the Sheikh, and we got married.”

Absence and Speculation

The announcement came after weeks of speculation, particularly when Zuchu was notably absent from Diamond’s mother’s birthday celebration on July 11. It also follows recent claims by Tanzanian lawmaker Baba Levo, a close associate of Diamond, that Zuchu was pregnant — rumors she did not address.

As of Monday, Diamond Platnumz — whose real name is Naseeb Abdul Juma — had not publicly responded. The separation comes at a pivotal moment for Zuchu, whose hits include “Wana,” “Sukari,” “Cheche,” and “Honey”.

The couple collaborated on several songs, including “Cheche,” “Mtasubiri,” and “Mapoz”. Whether this marks the definitive end of one of East Africa’s most high-profile relationships or merely another chapter remains to be seen.
