Rapper Nicki Minaj made a high-profile visit to the White House on Monday, posing for photos with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office following a Rose Garden luncheon celebrating the launch of the administration’s new children’s savings program, “Trump Accounts”.
The 43-year-old Grammy-nominated artist, who has emerged as one of Trump’s most prominent celebrity supporters, shared images of her visit on social media, dubbing herself “#WhiteHouseBarbie”. “Whoa!!!! #WhiteHouseBarbie with her favorite President of all time!!!” she wrote alongside a photo taken at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office.
During the Rose Garden Club Luncheon, the 80-year-old president singled out Minaj for praise. “We also have a woman that is so respected and so hot and so great and such a great friend of—I don’t say conservative, I say of common sense,” Trump told the crowd. He added, “She’s a fantastic person and she’s a woman that’s respected by everybody, and she’s got real talent, Nicki Minaj”. Trump then asked Minaj to stand as attendees applauded.
The luncheon marked the official kickoff of “Trump Accounts,” an investment program created under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that provides a $1,000 government seed contribution for children born during Trump’s second term, between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. The tax-advantaged accounts are available to U.S. citizen minors and can accept up to $5,000 in annual contributions from family and employers. To mark the occasion, Trump rang the NYSE and NASDAQ opening bell from the Oval Office—a first-ever occurrence.
Minaj’s support for the program extends beyond appearances. In January, she attended the Trump Accounts Summit in Washington, D.C., where she declared herself “probably the president’s No. 1 fan” and reportedly pledged between $150,000 and $300,000 to support the accounts.
Monday’s visit continues a relationship that has deepened since Trump won his second term in November 2024. Minaj, who did not support Trump during his first term, has become a frequent guest at White House events, including the premiere of the Melania documentary in January.
“When you AND ya bestie poppin. Like?!?!!” Minaj wrote in a series of social media posts documenting her day, which included photos posing along the White House’s “Presidential Walk of Fame”. Reflecting on her 2009 lyric “if we’re in the Oval Office, then it’s lights out,” she commented: “And here we are in the Oval Office. Lol. Who knew? 17 years ago”.
The event drew attention not only for the celebrity attendance but also for Trump’s remarks, which included a verbal gaffe in which he appeared to confuse Minaj with Small Business Administration Administrator Kelly Loeffler. The White House has not issued a clarification.
