The government has formally incorporated a new company to lead the development of a major industrial park in Tema, as part of a broader strategy to accelerate industrialisation and create jobs.

The Tema Integrated Industrial Parks Company Limited (TIIPCo) is a joint venture between the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC), TDC Ghana Ltd, and ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms.

The project is expected to transform the Tema Heavy Industrial Area into a strategic manufacturing and processing hub, spanning between 100 and 120 hectares of land near the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) smelter.

According to a statement released by GIADEC, TDC Ghana Ltd has already granted TIIPCo a Right of Entry to the land, with site preparation works now underway ahead of full-scale construction. The incorporation was completed in April this year.

“The industrial park will provide modern infrastructure to attract investment, support the local processing of raw materials and enhance Ghana’s export competitiveness,” the statement said.

The initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s agenda to promote sustainable industrial growth through public-private partnerships. A sod-cutting ceremony officially launching the project is expected to be performed by the President in the coming weeks.

ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms, a pan-African developer and operator of industrial ecosystems, brings expertise in the design, financing, and management of such facilities. The company currently operates industrial ecosystems in 15 African countries, including existing projects in Ghana.

GIADEC, established under Act 976 of 2018, manages government interests across the aluminium value chain, including shareholding in VALCO and the Ghana Bauxite Company Limited. TDC Ghana Ltd, established in 1952, remains a key state institution responsible for Tema’s planning and industrial infrastructure development.
