Dele Ali returns to Tottenham training in bid to reignite career

Former England international Dele Alli is back training at Tottenham Hotspur’s facilities as the 29-year-old free agent intensifies his efforts to secure a return to professional football.

The midfielder, whose full name is Bamidele Jermain Alli, has been granted permission by the north London club to use their training complex. He is currently undertaking an individual fitness program aimed at rebuilding his match sharpness and attracting interest from potential suitors.

Alli has been without a club since parting ways with Italian side Como 1907 in September 2025. His brief stint in Serie A proved challenging, with the player making only a handful of appearances before his departure.

The decision by Tottenham to open its doors to the former fan favorite underscores the enduring relationship between the player and the club where he produced the best football of his career. Alli first joined Spurs in 2015, rapidly ascending to become one of the Premier League’s most exciting talents.

During his illustrious spell in north London, he made 269 appearances across all competitions, netting 67 goals and providing 59 assists. His dynamic performances earned him back-to-back PFA Young Player of the Year awards and cemented his status as one of the most promising midfielders of his generation.

However, his career trajectory has been hampered in recent years by a combination of injuries and diminished playing time. Now a free agent, Alli is using the familiar surroundings of Tottenham’s training ground to rebuild his fitness levels as he bids to rediscover the form that once made him a standout performer in English football.

The 37-cap England international remains determined to prove his fitness and secure a new club, hoping to write the next chapter in a career that once promised so much.
