Barcelona have reached a full agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Karim Adeyemi, with the 24-year-old Germany international set to arrive at the Camp Nou.
According to leading transfer reporters, the two clubs finalised the deal after several rounds of negotiations. The transfer fee is structured as €22 million fixed, with an additional €7 million in performance-related add-ons. Adeyemi will sign a five-year contract with Barça.
The signing is viewed as a key move by Barcelona to bolster their attacking options this summer. The pacy winger had made it clear that Barcelona was his preferred destination and informed Dortmund he would not be extending his current deal, which runs until 30 June 2027 – meaning that if Dortmund had held on to him this summer, they risked losing him for free next year.
Flick’s Priority – A Reunion of Mentor and Protégé
Barça head coach Hansi Flick was the driving force behind the transfer. Adeyemi made his senior Germany debut under Flick, who has long admired the winger’s blistering pace and dribbling ability in transition – qualities he sees as ideal for his tactical system.
The player himself is said to be thrilled at the prospect of joining Barça. Adeyemi was previously linked with the Catalan giants during his Salzburg days, and now the move has finally materialised.
Negotiation Battle – Compromise on Both Sides
The deal was not straightforward. Dortmund had initially demanded €40 million for Adeyemi – understandable given they paid €33 million to sign him from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022. Barça, however, held firm at €20 million, refusing to overpay for a player with only one year left on his contract.
After sustained talks, both sides met in the middle. According to reports, Barça approached the negotiations with composure, treating the deal as a “market opportunity” rather than a necessity – a strategy that ultimately paid off.
Pre-Season Preparation in Sight
Barcelona hope to complete Adeyemi’s medical and registration as soon as possible, so that he can join the first team for the start of pre-season training. An official announcement is expected shortly.
Adeyemi made 39 appearances for Dortmund last season, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists. His arrival is set to inject fresh pace and dynamism into Barça’s attacking flanks.
