Police in Accra have arrested a 47-year-old woman and declared a man wanted with a GH¢100,000 bounty after a uncle and his niece were shot dead at their residence in Sakumono over an alleged unpaid GH¢500,000 loan.
The victims have been identified as George Atuguba, 57, and his niece Irene Atuguba, 47, who were killed on Friday, October 30, 2026, at NTHC Estate in Sakumono, a suburb of Accra .
Suspect at Large, Accomplice Arrested
The Ghana Police Service has identified the principal suspect as Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, who remains at large. According to police statements, Anto visited the victims' residence on the morning of the incident accompanied by Beatrice Mumuni, 47, to demand repayment of the money .
Mumuni has since been arrested. Police believe she led Anto to the victims' home before the fatal shooting . The Ghana Police Service announced a GH¢100,000 reward for anyone providing credible information leading to Anto's arrest, urging the public to contact the nearest police station or call emergency numbers 191 or 18555 .
Financial Dispute Turns Fatal
Preliminary investigations indicate the incident stemmed from a financial dispute. George Atuguba had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from Anto but failed to repay the amount .
According to a statement signed by Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs at the Accra Regional Police Command, a misunderstanding ensued during the confrontation, during which Anto allegedly shot and killed both George Atuguba and his niece .
Officers from the Sakumono District Police Command were dispatched to the residence after receiving reports of the incident. They found the two victims lying in a pool of blood. Both were rushed to a hospital, where a medical officer pronounced them dead. Their bodies have been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy .
Victim Was Skincare Entrepreneur
Irene Atuguba, the younger victim, was the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Kussa Shea Bliss, a skincare brand. She was known as a skincare expert and advocate for shea butter use, and had made several television appearances, particularly on UTV, where she shared her expertise on health-related programmes .
The Baatsona Divisional Police Command is leading the investigation into the case. Police have assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring him to justice .
