England midfielder Jordan Henderson has confirmed he underwent successful wrist surgery on Wednesday and is now focused on being ready for this weekend’s crucial fixture.
The 33-year-old took to social media to share an update from Kansas City, where he was treated at the renowned Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute.
“Surgery done! Let’s get ready for the big one on Saturday,” Henderson wrote, offering a positive signal to fans ahead of the upcoming match.
The former Liverpool captain, who now plays his club football for Ajax, expressed his gratitude to the medical team who oversaw the procedure.
“Thank you to all the staff who looked after me at the Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute, especially the three surgeons who carried out the operation,” he added.
Henderson’s injury had been a concern for the England setup, with manager Gareth Southgate keeping a close watch on the midfielder’s recovery. The 81-cap international has been an integral part of the national team’s plans, and his swift return to fitness will come as a welcome boost.
The nature of the wrist injury is not believed to be long-term, with Henderson’s message suggesting he expects to play through any discomfort once the operation site heals sufficiently.
While the specific match Henderson referred to remains undisclosed, his determination to feature suggests the fixture holds significant importance in the club and international calendar.
