The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of JL Properties, Dr. James Condua Orleans-Lindsay, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the International Tour du Ghana 2026, describing the prestigious cycling event as a dream capable of transforming the lives of young Ghanaians through sports development, youth empowerment, employment creation and economic opportunities.

Dr. Orleans-Lindsay, a passionate cyclist and longstanding supporter of sports development in Ghana, made these remarks during a courtesy visit by a high-level delegation comprising representatives of the Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF), Africa Cycling Network Satellite (ACNS), Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), and the Central Planning Committee (CPC) of the International Tour du Ghana 2026.

The delegation, led by Honourable Kobla Woyome, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, presented a special Citation of Appreciation to Dr. Orleans-Lindsay in recognition of his invaluable contributions to cycling development, his corporate leadership and his support for the successful organisation of the Tour du Ghana 2025.

A Dream for Youth Development and National Transformation

Speaking during the engagement, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay emphasised that the Tour du Ghana represents far more than a competitive cycling event, describing it as a platform for hope, opportunity, national pride and the transformation of young lives.

He stressed that the journey of the Tour du Ghana must extend beyond the pursuit of sporting glory to protect and promote the dignity, rights and opportunities of young people through cycling.

"I am a cyclist myself, and I believe the Tour du Ghana should focus strongly on branding, youth empowerment and employment creation. This is a dream that can open many doors for young people in Ghana," he stated.

Dr. Orleans-Lindsay called for greater recognition of sports as a powerful instrument for national development, explaining that structured sporting programmes provide young people with opportunities to discover their talents, develop discipline, acquire practical skills and pursue meaningful careers.

He expressed concern about the social challenges confronting Ghanaian youth, particularly unemployment, drug abuse and limited economic opportunities, and encouraged government institutions, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to invest more seriously in sports development.

According to him, cycling has enormous potential to generate employment opportunities beyond competitive athletes, including opportunities for coaches, bicycle mechanics, technical officials, event organisers, media practitioners, tourism operators, entrepreneurs and other professionals within the sporting industry.

He further emphasised the importance of developing a strong commercial identity for the Tour du Ghana through strategic branding, corporate sponsorship, media visibility and sustainable partnerships.

He expressed confidence that with proper planning, investment and promotion, the International Tour du Ghana could become one of Africa's leading cycling events while contributing significantly to Ghana's tourism, sports economy and international image.

Having supported the Tour du Ghana 2025, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay pledged his continued support for the 2026 edition and reaffirmed his belief in the long-term vision of using cycling as a vehicle for youth empowerment, employment creation and national progress.

JL Properties Receives Citation of Appreciation

As part of the engagement, the delegation presented a special Citation of Appreciation to JL Properties in recognition of the company's sponsorship, corporate leadership and contribution to the development of cycling in Ghana.

The citation, presented on behalf of the Tour du Ghana Organising Committee, Ghana Cycling Federation and Africa Cycling Network Satellite, acknowledged the company's role in promoting sports excellence, youth empowerment and tourism through cycling.

It recognised JL Properties' "exceptional commitment, invaluable sponsorship, and unwavering support" toward the successful organisation of the Tour Du Ghana – Black Star Experience, held from 13th to 24th November 2025 across the Greater Accra, Volta, and Eastern Regions.

"Your contribution played a pivotal role in enhancing the quality, visibility, and national impact of this year's event. Through your partnership, you have demonstrated true dedication to the development of cycling, sports excellence, and youth empowerment in Ghana," the citation read.

"We deeply appreciate your corporate leadership, your belief in our vision, and your continuous support in promoting Ghana's sporting culture and tourism through cycling."

CPC Chairman Commends Private-Sector Commitment

The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Honourable Kobla Woyome, acknowledged the importance of private-sector participation in the growth and sustainability of sporting programmes in Ghana.

He expressed appreciation to Dr. Orleans-Lindsay and JL Properties for their support of the Tour du Ghana 2025 and welcomed their renewed commitment to the upcoming international event.

The engagement highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships among corporate institutions, sporting federations, government agencies and development partners to create sustainable opportunities for young people.

The delegation also recognised that the success of the International Tour du Ghana depends not only on the performances of participating cyclists but also on the event's ability to attract investment, promote tourism, create employment and inspire future generations.

International Tour du Ghana 2026: Beyond Cycling

The International Tour du Ghana 2026, scheduled for 9th to 23rd November 2026, is expected to bring together cyclists, technical officials, sponsors, media organisations and sporting stakeholders from Ghana and other participating countries.

The event is being developed as a major international sporting platform to showcase Ghana's cultural heritage, tourism potential, hospitality, commercial opportunities and commitment to youth development.

Beyond competitive cycling, the Tour seeks to stimulate economic activities in host communities, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage youth participation in sports and strengthen Ghana's position on the international cycling calendar.

The Ghana Cycling Federation, in collaboration with Africa Cycling Network Satellite, the Central Planning Committee and other stakeholders, remains committed to building a sustainable international cycling event that delivers lasting social and economic benefits.

Dr. Orleans-Lindsay's renewed commitment represents another important step towards strengthening corporate partnerships and advancing the vision of transforming the International Tour du Ghana into a recognised international sporting brand.

The message from the engagement was clear: the Tour du Ghana is not only about winning races and celebrating sporting excellence; it is also about creating opportunities, empowering young people, building careers and investing in Ghana's future through cycling.
